DirectX Problems on an Online Game?
My Device: Compaq Laptop
Specs: Mobile AMD Athlon (tm) 4, 1.2Ghz, 256MB RAM, S3 Graphic Twister K Compaq shared graphics card. OS: WinXP Home Ed My Problem: So I just formatted my laptop yesterday due to so much unwanted applications and because it is beginning to hang often. Anyway, so I just installed a 3D online game called NosTale. I know I met the minimum system requirement so i should work right? After the patch, I clicked Start but the game didn't start (it didn't open another window for the game). So, thinking I was missing something, I installed DirectX. But when I pressed Start, it says "nostalex.dat encountered a problem and will have to close" something like that. I installed ActiveX and Macromedia Flash thinking it's the right program for that. Then re-installed the game. But after everything, I still get the same error. I clicked Options (on NosTale's patch window) before starting the game and there was a choice there for Environment. The default choice is DirectX and the other choice is Open GL (which I don't have a clue on what it means). Anyway, I chose the Open GL and the game started (to my excitement). But when I retrieve my character, all that's showing are white squares replacing my character. I can't see the graphics. Then I downloaded a video card stability test and tested my video card, but in the middle of the test, a pop up appeared saying that the test is terminated because DirectX is installed. Now Im clueless on what to do. What do you think is wrong and how can I fix this? |
