BF2 Freezes when loading different map I NEED HELP!!

iv been having this strange problem where i can run the game perfectly
but when i switch to a different map it loads only to 41 percent and then stays there forever

so i can only play one map or else if i want to change maps ill have to restart the game because it will freeze. other than that itruns very smoothly

PLEASE HELP!!!

Have you tried to reinstall the game?

ok now that i reinstalled it now i can only choose 1 server
now freakin wat i cant play anymore?

Did you reapply the latest patch?

ok i patched up but now its back to the same problem
i was playing then switched maps it loaded to 41% then jumped down to
31 ***x up?

I am having the EXACT same problem.

Uninstalled.
Reinstalled.
Patched to 1.41
Crashes.
Uninstalled.
Erased any traces of BF2 manually.
Reinstalled.
Patched to 1.41
Crashes.

Out of the box, the game works without issue. I can go from map to map, game to game no problem. When I patch, it dies. It doesn't matter if I am playing on a local single player or network. I can play BF2142 with no issues.

Windows Vista Home Basic - SP1
Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop
Intel Celeron 2GHz
2 GB Memory
