[SOLVED] open port for warcraft

Can someone help me; if a port is opened in our modem for the sake of hosting, can my teenage son use that port to by-pass the parental controls that are set on the modem? And what's the likely hood of getting a virus from battle.net?

Thanks!

Re: open port for warcraft

ive not heard of anyone getting a virus from battle net.as far as exploiting the open port i doubt it.it would depend on which port.like for the www. browsing the net works on port 80.

Re: open port for warcraft

the port that needs to be forwarded is port 6112. no your son will not obtain any viruses using this, as no one exploits this open port.. also your son will not be bypassing any parental controls.. the port forwarding is for your router/firewall not your modem.
