Satallite Internet for online play?

Hey guys.
So im stuck in a tiny little town where DSL isnt availible and im stuck with dial up. Im a huge gamer so im sick and tired of being stuck with dial up.

So here is my question. Is satellite internet better for online game play or is it worse?

My first reaction was "yeah its gotta be, its faster!" but ive read that theres a big lag issue because the satellite signal has to travel far and stuff like that. Any help would be awesome. Thank you!

Re: Satallite Internet for online play?

Yeah i understand what speed it would be at but my real question is, is it good for online gameplay? It could be a really fast connection but still be crap for online. Anyone have satellite and can play games on it?

Re: Satallite Internet for online play?

I talked to a guy once who had satellite internet. He claimed his computer shut off when it rained. I assume he means internet, because the former doesn't seem entirely possible, unless his wiring shorts out when it rains, but he'd probably notice that by now.

Re: Satallite Internet for online play?

I would never advise playing games on satellite - especially those shootem type games. The lag from the dish to the satellite can be a killer.

Re: Satallite Internet for online play?
