Random Disconnections

For the past 2 months I have been randomly disconnecting from xbox live. I have tried wirelessy hooking up with my Linksys WRT54Gv5 router and my new DGL-4500. I have also tired hooking up with these routers with an ethernet cable. Then I tried hooking it up to my modem. None of these Ideas worked. All my other computers are working just fine with my router except my xbox 360. Usually I disconnect in the middle of a Halo 3 game with my friends. My ISP is Comcast and my modem is a Surfboard SB3100.

Re: Random Disconnections

I'm experiencing the exact same problem...My ISP is Comcast. I had them over 2 days ago and they found nothing wrong with my connection. I even hooked it up directly from my modem and played while he stood there and I lagged out constantly. He didn't know what to do. He suggested I asked around and see if there was a better Server to connect to? I don't even know what that means!
I have a wrt300n wireless router. I've tried connecting with wire as well. Nothing seems to work.

Have you heard anything else? Any answers?

Re: Random Disconnections

Airtech, the person from Comcast was suggesting that it might be the person hosting the game. That either you don't have a good connection to him, due to long distance, or that the host himself is lagging.

Does Xbox Live ever give you a message saying that your NAT type is not open when you're trying to find a game?

Re: Random Disconnections

My NAT is always open. No messages apear while playing online. Someone in a different forum suggested that Comcast come back and change out all of my coax cables and make sure that they have a 900 Hz cable to replace. The thought being that I'm loosing signal by faulty cables. It's worth a shot.

As far as ping with Xbox...I called xbox to see if we could get there IP to ping and they couldn't give it.
How can you simple try another server?

Re: Random Disconnections

well if u want to know if it is something on your end get a comp and continiously ping your router, then ping your modem. You should see 0pct loss.. then that means its something probally beyond your modem..i dunno much about xbox tho.. good luck
