Trouble installing FFXI again :/
I've played FFXI for years now but recently i bought a new PC with windows vista on it. I tried it with FFXI for a while but POL kept crashing for no reason i could find so i figured it was vista. I formatted my C: drive and installed XP again, and now my POL viewer wont even update, im dreading the FFXI update if i ever get to it.
POL seems to have trouble downloading a specific file when updating, it stays on it until i get an error about my network connections, which are fine, saying they are busy or something. Plus, the time left till completion keeps going up, then down, then up a little more (like.. 29:02, 29:01.. 31:35, 31:34.. 32:00) it shouldnt be @ 2 hours+ for 76 files.. its like my internet is being blocked or something. I have 2MB broadband, but it takes worse than dial up speeds. I've rambled i know, but im frustrated >< lol. Can you do something like port-forwarding for POL? or is something else the matter :/ im lost here. Any help would rock, tyvm! |

Re: Trouble installing FFXI again :/
If you aren't having trouble playing any other game or doing anything else online, then port forwarding is probably a good idea, although it looks like it requires a LOT to be forwarded.
According to their website: Port numbers that may be used by the PlayOnline server group. TCP 25, 80, 110, 443 or 50000 - 65535 UDP 50000 - 65535 Port numbers that may be used by terminals such as the PlayStation(R)2. TCP 1024 - 65535 UDP 50000 - 65535 |

Re: Trouble installing FFXI again :/
The ONLY way I got POL to work under Vista was to copy the installation from my friend's PC over to mine.
