Wow difficulties concerning lag

Hello everyone, the purpose for why I wrote 'Wow difficulties concerning lag "in the headline was, because, I'm confronting a lot of issues concerning with lag when I play wow. The game is gradually slowly as I would like to control the person. I have a suspicion that I am missing something on my computer but do not know exactly what it is. I am a little doubt on whether there may be something about openGL or something similar program which is required for my computer.. or should I possibly fix my properties, or something similar. On the latency I got up this fact.

Thus, I am convinced that there is possibly nothing wrong with internet connection, but that the computer is missing files which can be fixed for some reasons.

Specifications are here. Intel pentium 4 cpu 1.80 Ghz 1.46GB of RAM

If i have poor specifications then please let me kno..and please tell me what the lag is occasioned by? What can the computer do as a pretext for the problems?
Thanks in advance

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Hi, welcome to TSF

Latencies below 100ms are acceptable for online gaming, so 55ms is about average and nothing to worry about.

Your framerate of 5fps is the problem. This could be due to your graphics card or onboard graphics not meeting the game's minimum requirements. It could also be caused by a number of other things like low free hard drive space, incorrect or corrupt drivers, overheating, weak PSU, etc. Please post your full system specs, including motherboard make/model, graphics card and PSU.

Does the game start off ok and then slow down over time? Is it particularly bad when there's alot of action going on?

Try reducing the screen resolution and in-game graphics options to minimum. If this gives better framerates you can increase the options one at a time until the game starts to lag again. If you have AA (anti-aliasing) enabled, disable it.

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Thanks for you answer, i am pleased with the supportive answer i recieved from you. Ok now let's head to the main problem. I will tell you accurately what happens when i attempt to play the game. When i play, it starts off with lag while i go around with my character.I reduced the lag due to some reasons such as ;enabling the 100 fullTPx, and that helped me out slightly of the lag, but it is still hanging some lag within the game.

Specifications:
system manufacturer:Viglen
System model:VIG520S
BIOS:award modular BIOS v6.0
Intel(r) pentium (r) 4 Cpu 1.80Ghz 1.82 ghz 1.46 gb ram. I have DDR..

Graphic card Sis651
manufacturer: SIS
Chip type:SIS 651 Rev 00
DAC type: internal
Approx Total memory: 32 MB
Current display mode:1024 x 768 16(bit) 16(hz) but i have 32 (bit) as well but reduced it to 16 (bit).
Monitor: plug and play monitor

My directx features are all enabled

maybe you need these particularly specification or the above ones will provide u enough information:

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Do you got any solution for this, I do have to mention that, While i play wow the mouse isnt going accurately. It moves slowly when i take the mouse to the other side, as well as when i go to a high population area, it starts to lag.

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Hey mate,
about latency, you have good one [55ms is quite good]...
So there is no problem with Internet Connection or ISP...
But I saw in your post that you have an integrated [on-board] graphic card so 5 FPS is low if you raise gaming performance [you are playing on 1024x768 resolution]...
Better low it to 800x600...
And better consider to buy new graphic card [do not know which one slot you have --- PCI-E or AGP]...
You should have at least 20 FPS to play game normally...
So make default settings and see what will happen...
Report back please...

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Yes, i did exactly as you told me to, but still it didnt make any difference.
I have on resolution 800x600
refresh:75hz
multisampling:24-bit color 32-bit depth 1x multisample
On world appearence i only got Environmental detail as high, but all of the other options on that tab is low. On the display one i've got ticked everything on there.
Under special effects i dont have anything specified there, neither on miscellaneous except "level of detail"

That's my video settings on world of warcraft.
For some reasons, my FPS has decreased to 2.

Please help me with this predicament.

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Hey mate,
can you somehow borrow graphic card from a friend and try to play...
This way we will be sure if the problem is in low graphic or it is something else...

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

If you've reduced everything to minimum and you're still getting very low framerates, then it's probably due to the low quality 32mb SiS onboard graphics which is not designed for playing 3D fullscreen games.

I've looked at the manual for your motherboard and the rest of it isn't much better unfortunately, with old style DDR RAM, onboard sound, etc.

The motherboard has an AGPx4 slot which you could use to install an AGP graphics card. This would give you a huge increase in framerates. It also has 3 PCI slots, so if you have a spare one you can install a soundcard which would take some of the load off the CPU, increasing framerates slightly.

The only problem with these upgrades is that you'd probably need a new PSU to cope with the increased power requirements. If you decide to upgrade in order to play this game, what would your price limit be for a new AGP card, sound card and PSU?

Enter your full system specs into this power calculator and set Capacitor Aging to 25%. Click the Calculate button, then add 30% to the total to allow for PSU inefficiency. This will tell us if your PSU is strong enough for your existing components or if it needs to be replaced for the upgrades.

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Hey, I had the same problem in WOW not too long ago, especially in major towns, or in big raids. I tried everything. I finally got a new graphics card, and it fixed the problem. I can actually go into major towns now and not run all over the place due to lag.

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

1. Run Everest and click the Report button at the top.

2. In the window that appears, select 'Hardware-related pages' and click Next.

3. In the next window, select 'Plain Text' and click Finish. It will take a few seconds to generate the report.

4. When it's finished, click the Save To File button at the top. This will save the report as a text file in the Everest\Reports folder.

Attach this report (or paste its contents) in your next reply and I'll use it to calculate your system's power requirements.

It's looking like you need a new graphics card to replace the onboard SiS. This usually requires a new PSU to power it. The calculator results will tell us what kind of PSU you need, probably a 450W with 18A/+12V.

What's your price limit for a new card and PSU? Check out newegg.com to get an idea of prices for 450W PSUs and AGP graphics cards.

Open your computer case and post back with the details from the PSU label (make/model, total watts, amps for +12V). The label will look similar to the image below.

Re: Wow difficulties concerning lag

Hey mate,
I must say that an integrated 32MB graphic card is not enough for WOW to play smoothly all the time...
I can imagine what is like when you come to big city where are loads of people or if you run instance or battlegrounds...
You better consider buying new graphic card because I do not think you can play and enjoy at the same time with this graphic card...
