Which computer is best to host a game?

Hi, I was wondering which computer would be the best to host a game.

Would it be the computer with the fastest connection or the computer with the highest spec if all computers are of a decent spec for the game that you are playing?

Is most of the processing for the game done on the client computers or is it done on the host and the clients connect to update the information on their computers or what exactly does the host do extra that the client computers dont?

Just trying to understand how hosting a game actually works.

Re: Which computer is best to host a game?

This task should probably go to the computer with the best connection, since the server has to deal with multiple concurrent connections in order to handle the game. The only specs that really matter for a game server are the CPU and memory- there is some processing involved, since the server has to manage the locations of all the players and objects in the game, and all this stuff has to be swapped around in memory. It doesn't take too much to do this though, especially if the machine is dedicated to the task.
