Problems with RTCW online

How are you all, i just registered to this forum, was looking for answers on the following issue :
I recently upgrade to a new PC, HP m8200n, with windows vista 32 bit SP 1, AMD ATHLON 64 +6000, 3 gigs RAM, changed the video ,was onboard and i installed a geforce 8600 GT 256 megs.
Am also a gamer since early days of DOOM and QUAKE , I am member of a Return to castle wolfenstein sniper clan, MIL (marksman intuition leaders),
we play in RTCW 1.0 .
I have installed other games and i play them online with no issues but some high ping, but when i try to play RTCW becomes very lagy, with very high ping. Does anyone know if there is some kind of problem with that online game running in VISTA ? .
VISTA gets very tricky about running online games for what i see, have to disable windows firewall , lots of unnecessary windows process or services that steal your broad band. And if you run the game as and administrator it starts with different configs.
i would appreciate any help you can give me on this.
