TEAM FORTRESS 2 crashing on load screen

I bought Orange Box a few weeks, mainly just for team fortress 2 btw~
So it worked fine for a few weeks, but now for some odd reason it keeps crashing right before the main menu loads up (after the valve logo).
A message saying "steam has encountered a problem and needs to close" pops up
I am running it as an administrator
My internet is fine
My computer meets all requirements for the game

But it works perfectly fine if I play my friends steam account on my computer, and my account works fine on his computer.
So i have no idea on whats going on....any suggestions?

Hi, if you have your firewall on, try disabling it , if not, then you should try reinstalling game again, maybe STEAM tries to check for an update at starup, and for some reason it cant, so tells you that error message.
