Bf2 Ranks Problem

IN battlefield 2 I can't seem to be able to get an rank promotion. It just keeps adding on points and it displays my points as an negative number. I checked with other websites and it says that I have met the rank requirements and should be able to get a promotion. Any ideas on why this is happening

Be patient, your ranks will go up it just takes them awhile sometimes.
