Hiya! I'm new here. Anyway, as my title suggested, for the past two months I've been having a really annoying problem: I CAN'T CONNECT TO ANY ONLINE GAME SERVERS WHATSOEVER! I've tried the following games: BZ Flags, Tribes 2, Legends, Trackmania Nations, Soldat, America's Army, and Shelled!. Most of them (except Soldat, I think) will query the server list, but when I try to join a server, I always get some "server connection failed" error or something similar. Oddly enough, all these games worked fine before, and in-browser games like Runescape still work (man cannot live on Runescape alone
). I think it may be a problem with my modem. If it helps, I have a Siemens SpeedStream 4200 DSL modem and my internet service provider is Windstream (since my parents are extremely stubborn and refuse to get me one, I don't have any sort of router ). Also, here are some fixes I've tried and their results:-Took my modem upstairs and plugged into a different phone jack: no change -Tried to connect to my modem with a different ethernet cable: no change -Hit the reset button on modem: no change -Disabled all firewalls and antivirus programs of any sort on my computer:no change -Took my computer (it's a laptop) over to my next-door neighbor's house and hooked up to their internet: everything works normally ( ) I don't know how much longer I'll survive without my games...any help would be most appreciated ![]() (If you post something and I take a while to get back to you, its cuz we don't have a router and I'm not hooked up to the internet a lot...usually my parents' computer is hooked up ) |

Re: All Online Server Connections Failing
You could try sending Greenstorm33 a PM, but he hasn't been back online since posting his last reply, so you might not get an answer.

Re: All Online Server Connections Failing
Hi, guys! I just got an e-mail from TSF about this topic. I guess I never unsubscribed from it. Anyhow, here was my problem: the firewall in my dsl modem was turned up too high. I didn't even know it had one, and the problem was hard to pinpoint because it didn't give me messages that asked if I wanted to allow certain programs, like Windows firewall does. The only way I know of to adjust the firewall is to use the software Windstream gave me when I signed up for dsl. If you have a modem similar to mine, you could try searching through any software your internet service provider sent you for a "change firewall setting" option. If all else fails, try contacting them (if you haven't already). I solved my problem by doing a chat session with a Windstream tech support rep. Hope that helps, Timmay!
