Dedicated Server is being blocked
I am having problems hosting any one of three dedicated servers. I have tried to host a Neverwinter Nights Server, a Rainbow Six 3 Server and an Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Server. NWN and ET:QW are not even visible on the online server list. Rainbow Six is visible however trying to connect gives a "Server did not respond message".
I have tried a few things to solve the problem including opening all the required ports for each game. Then I just tried to disable security systems one at a time until it worked. First I disabled windows Firewalls then my software firewall, and then I put the computer running the server in a DMZ on my router. Then finally I plugged my computer straight into the modem and still my brother was not able to see or connect to the servers from his house. As far as I know all my software firewalls are disabled and I do not have a router active so what is blocking my dedicated servers? Thanks in advance for any help. Im pulling my hair out over this one! lol |

Re: Dedicated Server is being blocked
I forgot to add, In NWN and ET:QW I can find the servers under the LAN search tab. I can connect just fine however when I get my brother on the phone he cant even see the servers posted. And yes I do have both of them set to brodcast to the internet.

Re: Dedicated Server is being blocked
Are you using a router? If you are you may need to port forward to allow the router to properly route packets from the Internet back to your server.
Not sure how? Portforward.com has a slew of router models and the appropriate games with step-by-step instructions on what ports to forward for which games, and how. If you can not find your game listed you should be able to find the information on the game's website, forum, or a simple search with Google. Addendum: I'm moving this thread over to Online Gaming Support. If you have more questions or problems regarding this issue, please feel free to ask in there.
