[SOLVED] I can't play any online games!!

Help! i accidentally uninstalled 'program files' a while ago, and i used System Restore to try to restore it back. but it seems that it did not completely restore my computer's files. msn wasn't working, IE wasn't working, and a ton of other things. one of it was that all my online games just wouldn't connect, like maplestory. it managed to connect to gameguard fine, but it just wouldn't connect to the game! i tried it with other online games as well, and it's the same thing...
really would appreciate any type of help...

what exactly did you do?did you try to delete the program files folder on your hard drive?

nah, i was uninstalling some files coz it was clogging my computer up. but i wasn't paying much attention when i was uninstalling this weird unknown file, and i ended up uninstalling the whole of program files.

You'll have to reinstall all the programs you deleted.

haha,actually, i did. i installed the game again twice already, and i downloaded the setup twice, coz at first i thought it was the setup's fault. even the online game that wasn't installed into program files couldn't connect... i'm completely at sea rite now...

im not exactly clear on what you did.i know of no single file to uninstall that would uninstall all program files.have you scanned for viruses,and spyware.that almost sounds like some malware.

yeah, i know. my dad couldn't believe me when i told him i uninstalled program files either - kinda had a hard time convincing him - yeah, but that's what happened. i couldn't find that file anywhere, but it's listed in the 'Add or Remove Programs', and it uninstalls the whole of program files whenever i try to delete it. must have came with a game i installed, coz it's icon is that of Half Life 2...

What's the name of the file listed in Add/Remove Programs, the one that deletes your Program Files folder? Have you scanned it?

sigh... problem solved. i had to do it the hard way : installing in another computer, then transfering the whole thing into my computer. as for that file that was the cause of this, it's supposed to be a chinese version of HL2, which explains why my computer read it as gibberish...
