Why can't I connect?
Online games won't connect anymore on my pc. i can connect to internet explorer and AIM fine, but when i try to start a game it just gives me a connection error message and no matter how long i wait it still persists. this has happened with 2 games so far, and i never used to have connection errors like this. i'm not too computer savvy, but if there is an easy way to fix this please let me know.
if it's any help, my dad also uses this computer, but i don't know if he possibly changed a preference or something that would block these connection. we have a router hooked up but to my knowledge it's only there for my sisters laptop, and we get our connection through comcast. if there's any advice at all i'd appreciate it. |

Re: Why can't I connect?
hi and thanks for the welcome.
i'm using the normal windows security center firewall, but i don't think that is the problem because i made it so that the firewall would allow these games to connect to the internet. |

Re: Why can't I connect?
the two games are Gunz and Fly For Fun. When i open Gunz, the preloader pops up and immediately freezes, and i need to ctrl alt del to get out of it. when fly for fun opens i type my username and password in and everything and it just says "error: can't connect."
I think the problem has something to do with my router. how do i make my computer just run independently on my modem instead of having the router mess with things? |
