Odd.

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie to the forum I was recommended to come here from a friend who is a member, I usually can figure out the simple problems of everyday computers. But I got a new modem/router recently and frankly I think it sucks, It's a GT704WG Verizon Modem/Router, I have had two major problems with it so far. For some reason it makes the loading speed of my games way longer, like 3-5 minutes longer just to open up Call of Duty 2, I have reason to believe its the router due to the fact that when I tried it with my old Westell 2200 modem it opened perfectly. The other problem is the common one with playing online games with a wireless connection, the lag spikes that occur every 10-20 seconds, ping is usually close to that of a wired connection, then it just spikes, I was browsing other threads but found nothing to exactly help resolve the problem. I was thinking of getting a booster for it though im not sure about what to get or really anything about them and figured I should consult the pros here before I go blow some funds that come in rather slow for mee. Anyway Thanks.

My System

did your new modem come with any software some of them are picky about needing it.wireless having lag spikes doesnt surprise me any at all.there are numerous things that can disrupt wireless.the most common things that interfere with wireless are cordless phones,cb/ham radio's,sunspots, and near by radio/tv stations.usually not much you can do about that.
