battlefield 2 mod map ctd after loading

right im not having this problem but my team are, i have had these maps installed for over 2 years now but my team mates have just inserted them into c:/ ea games / battlefield 2 / mods / bf2 / levels.
apparently when the maps load there bf2 crashes to dt with no errors or error messages. i was sure it was a patch problem but they have reinstalled 1.5 already and still no joy!. has anyone got any answers?, i have been looking all over the net and cannot find any answers at all, the most common one is just reinstall bf2 which is an extreme measure imho.

Maybe you could ask them to reinstall just to rule that out, it doesn't take too long.
A good tool for them to use is Revo from my signature, it deletes all traces from the registry.
