Re: Is this possible ?

That is a really nice system you have there. I hope you have it on a quality brand PSU.

Honestly, do not bother upgrading to 26 (I assume you mean 24?) GB of RAM. Even now, you won't be using anywhere near all of your 12GB. The upgrade will just be a waste of your money.

Re: Is this possible ?

Solid state drives are fast because they have no moving parts. They're basically RAM in hard drive form (for more accurate and detailed info, Google it ).

There's no "max" RAM... there's only "what you'll use". Even with the lastest games, you're unlikely to use all of 6GB, let alone 12, let alone alone 24. I have 12GB in my computer, but only because they came in 6GB kits. If one of my sticks dies, I have to send the whole kit away. With only the one kit, that would mean I would have no RAM. So basically, I have 6GB of spare RAM in my computer.

Re: Is this possible ?

All that for just a thousand pounds...? I don't think so. I wouldn't call it "The fastest ever gaming computer", because I would be incorrect if I did. But yes, that is a very powerful setup and you won't have to upgrade that for a very long time.

Only time I hit 3.5GB+ in normal usage is when playing Psychonaut, and only because the game has more memory leaks than a digital Titanic.

Re: Is this possible ?

My Question. Your using a 3-way SLI motherboard with an ATI graphics card(s).
What motherboard is it?
If its Intel or Nvidia in design then i would get a Nvidia card just for better compatibility and miss some stability issues you "may" get when using an ATI card in a SLI designed board.

Re: Is this possible ?

The I7 and the 2 5870 alone would cost near £1000, so I'm not sure who gave you that price . And yeah, as far as games are concerned you will not even use 6GB of ram for at least 5 years, by which time your RAM will be outdated.

Whenever I build a computer I build to the spec of what I will potentially use. There is no such thing as a "future proof" PC when it comes to PC technology, but still, that is a nice PC you have and will keep you going for a while!

Re: Is this possible ?

You can easily build that rig for £1000. Just spend the 1000 on a rental truck and a couple guys to help you rob the computer factory for the parts.
