Can I back up games legally?

Hi all, my Grand Theft Auto IV DVD has had a lot of scratches and dust from being kept in a closet for 6 months, and I'm afraid that it won't last much longer. Is there anything I can do to keep playing the game even after the disc goes completely? Nothing illegal or against the rules, please. Thanks.

Re: Can I back up games legally?

backing up games is legal, but that doesn't mean that the game makers are going to make it easy. They don't know whether you're making a copy of the game to backup or sell. As a result, they make it as hard as possible to create copies.

Re: Can I back up games legally?

Backing up games is legal (you're allowed one backup disc of each game you own). However, since the same process is used for pirating games, I have removed the link, and will now close this thread.
