Re: Left 4 Dead 2 in the making
You must have some really good luck GoSuNi. The only mature people I have ever managed to play a game with were people I know from TSF.
Every public game I play is either rage quitters, team killers or people that just keep telling you to do obvious things (that really annoys me). And I agree, this is looking more and more like a cash grab to me. The characters are awful, daylight maps? What could have compelled them to make it daylight is beyond me. The weapons are virtually identical. Melee could be added to the original, as could the new maps. The only 'new thing' I see here that might be difficult to implement in the original is the AI Director 2.0. Seriously losing respect for Valve here. (How long has HL2: EP3 been in development?) |

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 in the making
Um, my experience with the L4D community has been fairly positive as well. Not many ten-year-olds, and certainly a large number of mature, helpful players. Maybe it has something to do with the ping-minimizing matchmaking?
Anyway, I actually don't have much of a problem with Valve doing this. They have clarified that many (not all) of the changes in L4D2 are technically possible to implement into the first game with updates on PC, but none of that is possible on the 360 version (which is half the playerbase). Also, there is more content on the second game than the first one, what with the five campaigns, weapons, gameplay changes, all the unannounced stuff, etc., so I don't think it's fair to call it an expansion. As for the rushing thing, the timing is early, but they've said that it's because their development team wanted to start making the sequel shortly after finishing the first. And they will continue to support the first game with new content. Pushing L4D2's content out in updates (if they chose to do so) would have taken years, and I'm not opposed to paying to have it early. However, some say that putting L4D's content onto L4D2 when it ships and selling it together is screwing some people over, and frankly that's true. I would just swallow my pride and buy it all over again, but I can understand why others wouldn't. I have seen a very good suggestion to solve this though (http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...d.php?t=888377). If only they could implement it... |

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 in the making
I Personally can't see why they would even let ten year old's on the bloody co-op play. I know there's really no way to tell how old a kid is but really I can see myself really only playing with adults and if there is a little kid playing the game there should be an automatic block of them for a mature game like that. I would stick with the TSF group for co-op play strictly because we all know the kind of people that are on this forum and know the kinds of games we like to play. I personally like the idea of the new release but like everyone else here feel maybe it's a little hasty to release it so quickly as well as the fact that there really was no reason that they couldn't have just improved upon the original game with an expansion pack. Perhaps if the new game receives negative reviews then maybe they'll rethink the compete new release Vs. the updated expansion theory. Either way I love the Incendiary Rounds in the game.....Nice Fiery Bullets....

Re: Left 4 Dead 2 in the making
Lately I have had the luck of playing with some nice people on L4D versus. They're a clan mostly but the don't rage quit and they are damn good at L4D which I like because it forces me to improve and work hard with my teammates. The was this game I recently played where I got 3 22damge pounces and 25 damage one with a hunter.
I have had the luck with some pretty annoying people too. I don't mind soundboards that people use as long as its not spammed upon. Since this probably the first level they're showing do you guys think its going to progress to dusk then night time? I hope they do. On another note, I think I may have heard a rumor that that they will not release HL EP3 but rather Half life 3 instead and continue the story arc with a new game engine. |
