[SOLVED] PC steering wheel

I'm looking for recommendations for a PC steering wheel for use in games like GRID. I've narrowed it down to the Logitech Formula Force EX and Saitek R660 / R440 and want to keep the price below £60/$100, although the £160 Logitech G25 looks tempting.

Re: PC steering wheel

IMHO Logitech are the best when it comes to mice, wheels etc...
the G25 looks cool
but be careful, lots of players are having issues playing GRID with a steering wheel, they say that the steering is too sensitive, maybe you should borrow one first to test the game on it if you haven't already done that.
playing GRID using my keyboard and happy with it
we should play again sometimes

I like the G25. I've got a Logitech MOMO myself (had it for years). Problem is it's only useful in certain games. It's terrible in most NFS games, great in the GTR series games and so so in others. Really depends on how accurate the driving model in the game is.

Re: PC steering wheel

I think the only model I 'd stay away from is the Saitek 440.

I read the little description for logitech G25 and they say you can bolt down the wheel to your desk!

The G25 seems very precise for handling

If I were to get a wheel <This would be my top 4 list out of those

1. Logitech G25
2. Saitek 660
3. Logitech Formula Force EX
4. Saitek 440

Re: PC steering wheel

I'm veering towards the more expensive G25, but having trouble justifying the extra cost for a toy

I used to have a £50 Ferrari GT steering wheel that my brother borrowed and still hasn't returned after 3 years, so I've given up on ever getting it back. Its performance was good enough for the racing games I was playing back then, so I'm guesing that a similarly priced new wheel will be about the same kind of quality. I'll probably go for the Logitech Formula Force EX if there are no other recommendations posted.

I'll be playing things like GRID, Flatout 2, Fuel and NFS Shift. Not true racing sims, but not simple arcade games either, so I only need a reasonable level of accuracy, nothing professional.

Thanks for the replies.

Rockmaster, PM me any time you want another race

Re: PC steering wheel

Quick update. After looking at some more online reviews, I decided to go for the Ferrari F430 (£75). Good solid build, large 11" wheel, manettino selector, well-sprung pedals and responsive gear paddles.

I've only tried it in GRID and Race WTCC, and I still haven't got it calibrated properly, but so far so good. Much better than playing with keyboard, and a huge improvement over my last one.

Re: [SOLVED] PC steering wheel

I hope you get that wheel calibrated properly.

I would hate playing on the keyboard as I use my 360 controller for racing games.
