Best gaming platform?
Right now, my best gaming platform is PC because of LAN and MMOG's, and a former PSX player. Could you tell me what are yours and why? Thanks!

Re: Best gaming platform?
I also Choose PC.
Choice is good and I have choices! I can choose to use my mouse and keyboard or my 360 controller. I can choose how to communicate with people and with what device. I can choose what quality of graphics and they are also superior to consoles. There are some games only meant for the PC which I love. It is not a Wii! |

Re: Best gaming platform?
I only play games on my PC. I don't like consoles for various reasons. For one, the graphics are never as good as what you can get on a PC. For two, I don't like console controllers - much prefer the keyboard.

Re: Best gaming platform?
I would have to say PC as well, and if this were a poll, wow, PC would be blowing everything else out right now!
![]() I do not have any other consoles, although I have played on a Wii, Playstation, and Xbox before.

Re: Best gaming platform?
I've played on these consoles
(no particular order) Atari Sega Genesis Dreamcast Commodore 64 (my family used it just for games) NeoGeo (I'm pretty sure) Nintendo Super Nintendo N64 Gamecube Wii Xbox 360 Xbox PS1 PS2 Ps3 I currently own a PS2 (Hardly ever touch it) and my really nice PC. There are some games that need a controller like Hawx or Assassin's Creed. Platforming is hard with a keyboard and mouse. |

Re: Best gaming platform?
I've always thought of the PC as the ultimate gaming console. You have so many options. You can get Steam and download your games, or any other download service. Also, there is a better variety of games. Most console games come out on the PC(unless they are console-specific, like killzone). Plus, you get all the great games that aren't out on the consoles. RTS games are crap on consoles. FPS games are easier with a mouse and keyboard too.

Re: Best gaming platform?
I would have to honestly agree with everyone here that the PC platform is vastly superior to anything you can get on a Playstation or Wii or anything else for that matter simply for one reason...GRAPHICS and of course versatility of gameplay. I would have to site the PS3 for having the HD gameplay which I can still get on my PC but I would have to spend more for that. I feel that you really have to think more to play PC titles and there's more room for improvement and there's updates on a PC game without having to possibly pay extra say for a network attachment on a PS3 or anything else. You can get better sound when playing PC titles without having to use a big audio system hooked up to the TV and the use of LAN is amazing. I was playing survival mode on L4D and eventhough I was unable to talk back the sound quality was amazing when hearing the other players talking.
PC's ROCK.... ![]() Jones

Re: Best gaming platform?
I think consoles will one day be obsolete :D, In my opinion its computer...I've only owned ps1 and currenlty own ps2...which I don't even play anymore...PC is the best I think cause there is more options and you don't have to pay for xbox live :), all you pay for monthly is internet but you would have to pay for internet on ps3 and 360+live unless you play SP only(not my time of game)or monthly as for something as WoW. I also think consoles will be obsolete one day because they won't have enough keys. I heard cod on consoles you cannot lean (q,e)also games like americas army have a ton of controls like i last remeber, I'd find that hard to play on consoles...hit x 3 times?nah :).
Sadly PC has more n00bs(Hackers[Script kiddies]) |

Re: Best gaming platform?
Actually a PS3 and a Xbox 360's video card is around a (nvidia 7900GT) or (ATI eqiuivilant - X1900)
The only true definition I know of HD is what applies to TV's. That is HD is 4x better image quality than SD (standard definition). @Derek Jones Your 4850 graphics is so much fsater than what a Xbox 360 or PS3 can do and will probably still be about up to par with the next gen of consoles which I think will be coming out in 2-3 years. |

Re: Best gaming platform?
Very Nice to know. The LCD TV I have will still be going on for much longer than that as well since the 1080P standard hasn't even been used yet which is good to know. Yeah Gaming consoles may be good for portability but a PC is gonna always be the best when it come to pure performance.

Re: Best gaming platform?
I can do everything on my PC and my last Video card I bought in November last year was as much as a Xbox 360 itself. It was around $340 + 13% tax = $384 CDN
I can tell you this much, I have never seen game on the 360 that can compare with my GTX 260 O/C 20%. |

Re: Best gaming platform?
PC games went downhill after Starcraft.
I only play SNES, PS2 & DS games. RPG's are awesome. Side-Scrollers are awesome. Do you guys even remember R-Type? |

Re: Best gaming platform?
You mean to say that by me saying my favorite gaming platform is a PS2 (which is what this thread is asking for) is irrelevant?
I can't argue with that logic

Re: Best gaming platform?
You assume a game on the PS1 is better than a game like Fallout 3 or Bioshock.
The story is very immersive and you can believe your there as the graphics are very nice. The whole experience is much better on a PC. Why don't you give a newer game a chance Undocked? I'm sure you don't like a lot of games on the PC but I'm sure I could find something you like. |

Re: Best gaming platform?
I'll be in Florida next week playing COD4 with my Brother, he has a 360 so I'm sure he'll be pounded that into me, I'll probably end up liking COD4.

Re: Best gaming platform?
You're right, I don't have a "giming computer", LOL.
I actually do have a gaming computer, I can run anything except Crysis and high-end games, so.. games like Devil May Cry 4 I can play.. my computer isn't bad, and if you know anything about computers, you'll know that software is just as important as hardware. |
