Fall of Tabula Rasa

You read right.

NCsoft have now closed, forever, Tabula Rasa because it did not meed expectations in sales.

The game was free to play and download in the last month.

GMs leveled peopel to max for fun, spawned stuff gave special weapons etc and had a huge good-buy ceremony.

"BUY!" was the very last word uttered by any user ever in Tabula Rasa

That' it really, quite sad, I mean I've seen huge private servers go down but not actual games, it terrible. All though I don't think I will ever mourn a game's termination as much as Aliens Versus Predator 2; my favourite FPS gane ever (the mutiplayer at least).

Yes, my company did give away free Tabula Rasa boxes too during the month it was free. Even a strategy guide.

Any other games you'd like to mourn right now? Let's all pause for a moment of silence as we commemorate all the deaths of great games in the history of videogaming

Hey mang some games laid the very foudnation for gaming, and MMOs are no different, if WoW dissapeared, then Maplestory, Guild Wars, Everquest and so on and so foruth then MMOs will cease to exist.

any OTHER games you'd like to mourn? any at all?

I find that most MMO's are pretty boring and don't care at all for them.
and I don't think MMO's really lay the foundation for games, its usually really good singleplayer games or ideas from people that make MMO's so their not really the original idea for other games

I will really really try, very very hard, to pretend I did not just read that you want Maplestory to end, Evercrack however is fine by me.

They have laid the foundation for gaming, bringing great new teamplay and online fun, awesome new ideas and stuff.

Seriously we can't live without MMOs

Gaming has been around for many years, long before MMO's.
Online gaming has been around for years, long before MMO's.

Take a look at WoW. They could have made Warcraft 4, and it would have been an awesome new RTS.
But instead they created WoW and killed off virtually every peice of lore that could have been used to make a new Warcraft.

In response to the original topic (what other games do we want to mourn), I would have to say that I miss Red Faction the most. It was awesome fun, and was the only game I ever really played online. Now you'll find maybe a dozen people online at any given time.

Never have, never will. My brother plays them, and some of my friends play them, but I refuse to out of principle.

On a serious note, MMO's only make up one part of the gaming industry. Yes, they have millions and millions of players, but it's just one genre. Not everyone will like them or play them, and not everyone has to. They certainly did not lay the foundation for the industry, and are not the pinnacle of the industry either.
