Ignorant Gamers - I hate them

Yeah I hate ignorance, but I hate them in gamers more than anything. What I'm mostly referring too is the fact that most people have an inexplicable inability to name games correctly, and this shows up most in the Call of Duty series.

To be specific, people are calling COD World at War, COD5, even though COD5 is going to be released as a completley different game. COD5 IS NOT WORLD AT WAR! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS! Next people will be calling Modern Warfare 2 COD6... sufferin' suckotash! It's madness I tells ya!

hey if they were calling every a COD game a different number I think we'd be at around COD 14 or so by now

I have to admit it myself I was confused with the stupid naming of the COD series when Call of Duty World at war came out. the Confusion went to denial and I refused to call Call of Duty WaW its proper name and called it COD5. after confusion was hate and I was smoldering against the retarded naming convention they have. There was grief a little later when i started seeing all the problems people were having. last of all is I now accept that treyerach have skipped a couple months of testing and the name is COD WaW.

I don't think it's particularly ignorant, though I can understand where you are coming from.
Though, there is no COD 5, nor is there one in development (that I have heard of, feel free to correct me).
The last numbered Call of Duty was 4. World at War (the fifth game in the series, but not specifically named COD 5) was next and the most recent Call of Duty is Modern Warfare 2.

Yes COD 5 Is actually in the alpha stages, said to be completed in mid-2010, Modern Warfare 2 officially comes out end of this year.
The naming conventions of CoD is not that hard to comprehend! It's not like Dynasty Warriors where the 5th game is called the 2nd over here. And if we always just numbered games then alot of series would be quite different, excluding games like Final Fantasy where all the games are numbered (Crystal Chronicals and Tactics are spinoffs). For instance, if all of The Sims were numbered the next Sims game would be The Sims 27, and I'm not kidding, making the series suck as all the expansions that only add small features would be a whole nother game. Other games like RIIIIIIDGE Racer, benefit from only numbered games, as an expansion to such a racing game would really be pointless.
Some games like Burnout don't have numbers, but are actually the next installment, like Burnout Paradise being Burnout 5 or so.

Because some are sort of side-games, not relating to any story or plot that is known to the CoD series, so it's radically different or on a completley different path. Since WaW goes back to WWII, it would not made sense that the sequel takes you back in time, thus making the next one either the same time frame or in the future. However, if WaW was made BEFORE CoD4 Modern Warfare, then maybe WaW would be CoD4 and Modern Warfare would be called CoD5 Modern Warfare, also making the next game CoD6, but the senventh game and Modern Warfare 2 the sitxth.
