Does video games cause violence?

Hello I had to do this little survey, mostly to compare to a survey that has already been done. Short survey only 10 questions, had to cut some of the questions for it being a free based site that I used.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s...geAtJHjw_3d_3d

Thanks again if you decided to do it.

Re: Does video games cause violence?

Invalid link.

Back in the fifties it was said comic books caused violence. Then it was movies, then tv, then rock and roll, then hiphop/rap. Now video games. It looks to me that violence is like cancer, EVERYTHING causes it, especially the things you happen to enjoy.

The link works fine for me in Firefox. It needs javascript to be enabled though.

Re: Does video games cause violence?

LOL, nice little survey, I look at it this way. If video games affected the way we think, everyone over 20 would be sitting in a dark room eating "magical" pills, then running away from ghosts.

.........
.....
...
......Now that I think about, sounds like a few people I know

Re: Does video games cause violence?

Video games do not cause violence! Video games where there is mass killings and violence and carnage and mass property destruction do desensitise people to the horror of just what is happening and it does give people a sense of being superior and invincible which leads to this type of lifestyle being copied in real life. It is the same for the atrocious violence, mass killings, mass property destruction, antisocial behaviour we see on television and in the movies that is then seen to be the normal behaviour and it the downfall of our society and world. It is nolonger enough to say it is make-believe because it is a movie or game!

(BTW my host file blocks the survey site and I cannot be bother to unblock it)

Re: Does video games cause violence?

I love violent games and sometimes It seems like I fell that de sensitised to violence but I could never.

I have watched some horrible videos with extreme graphic nature and it just disguts me and sometimes I may cry. There are things that are very taboo to me

killing or abusing kids and killing in general unless its a abhorrent montrousity of nature like a terrorist or a kidnapper whos killed or about to kill someone then they should die or rot to death in jail

The accpetance that some races of people are worse off than others like antisemitism. We are all human aren't we so what is wrong with some people and sharia law?

The thing that attracts me to video games is that it is like an emtional realease and keeps my emotions from building up. I have a temper like everybody else in this world and having a release in what seems like an annoying world is a god send.

as I said before Sociopaths and people with serious mental problems should have help and be kept calm by friends and family, a support system and if its too serious than I guess a mental hospital.

I believe every human life is precious but there are other who think that they can use other people as tools of change.

Re: Does video games cause violence?

with kids nowadays being kept busy on a computer the exact opposite can said in fact. Video games keep kids minds occupied and with good parents to remind the younger generation. Their is fantasy and their is reality and a couple in betweens like this
