Can I get everyones oppinion on this one, I am disabled!!

I have recently started trying to learn about gaming, and find it's a totally different world, well..to me it is. I have a slight problem though, I am partially disabled(left hand). I need to play games that will allow me use a game controllers, because Its a challenge/hard to use the Keyboard Keys!! I have no problem typing with my right hand, and only using my left thumb, but it would make it too hard to play games. I just don't have much movement with my 4 fingers, but my thumb is ok. For examle: I can cuff a controller well, and use my left thumb to play xbox, if that will give you an Idea of what I mean. I am done with step 1, I bought a computer controller from Target, Now all I need is your help to find games that will allow me to play games with the controller. I did a little bit of researching so far, but figured all you gamers would be to help me a little quicker. The kind of games I like are Army and fighting gmaes, like Halo and Call-of-Duty. Thank you for your help, I look forward to hearing from everyone.

Hello,
if you can post a picture of that controller you got, we can help you a lot.
there is some programs that simulates the keyboard into the controller, so you could play games using the gamepad, instead of the keyboard and mouse.
like this one : http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/.../Xpadder.shtml
it's called Xpadder.
try to use it, and if you need help with it, ask and I'll help you with that.

if you like to play RTS (real time strategy games) like C&C Red Alert or anything similar like that, you can use only the mouse.

the best controller to get is a 360 controller because its already set up for games and requires no CD to install as long as windows updates works it'll work

XPadder is fine just a bit of a hassle

yea post that pic glad to help you with your gaming needs!

Ok, thank you. The only problem that I am having or not understanding is what games will take it a controller. ONE OF MY BIG PROBELMS TOO IS looking for something to play something online that will take
controllers/gamepads. It drives me crazy to download a game and then find out I have to use the stupit keyboard and not my game pad. They should make it easier so we know before we buy/download it; unless I am just msiing it somewhere!! I just need a little help and bump to get me started with gaming then I will be ok. I just want to be able to look, read, and play the game if it gives you an option of using a gamepad.

Thank you for your help,

Mickey

HAWX
Prince of Persia 2008
GRID
Fallout 3
GTA 4
Assasin's Creed

I dunno I play most of my games with keyboard and mouse but I know that that there is a lot of games that support the 360 controller out there

Re: Can I get everyones oppinion on this one, I am disabled!!

I would have thought quite a few games for PC were gamepad compatible. I'm not a massive PC gamer so somebody that is, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I would have thought that it would be in the game options to play with game pad.

Most demo's you'll be able to download for free, to try a game to see if you like it and more importantly if it's game pad compatible.

Re: Can I get everyones oppinion on this one, I am disabled!!

Yea, I must be doing something wrong. Not very smart with this kind of stuff, thats why I am asking for detailed help. I am a dummy when it comes to this stuff. Like yesterday night for intance; I started to download this one game, and then ended up stoping it for many reasons. I didn't want to end up downloading something for a while, then find out later that it will not let me use my gamepad!! I just have not seen any options yet telling you that you can use a gamepad/controller/ Joy stick etc...before you download it. I have to be missing something.

Steam, I think, would be a good thing for this... some people will probably like it argue this.
this tells you that you can use game pads before you even download the game

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Untitled-1.jpg that's an example I've just screendumped, I've circled where it says controller compatable

I know what you mean! I heard there is something called a demo from what I understand. I am just not sure how that goes or how many min the demo lasts.

I read that any game that says "Games For Windows" has to be gamepad compatible. I'd guess that means it has to work with the Xbox controller.

Re: Can I get everyones oppinion on this one, I am disabled!!

mickeymbb: it depends really, some are timed demos, where you can only play for say 30 minutes, others would be a level or two.

maybe try Americas Army, it should tell you somewhere if you can use a pad and it's free, or at least it used to be.

Xpadder will let you play any game using the gamepad
it simulates the keyboard buttons using the gamepad
it just need some configuration, try it (you use the help from the software)
the link is in the Post#2
