whats the scariest game you've played so far?

For me its F.E.A.R 2

the parts against the soldiers and replica army is fine. its when Alma pops up out of now where and tries to kill you by strangling you to death or something.

The game's brightness needs to be way down and there's lots of parts where your just walking down a hallway and all the lights start swaying random visions pop and lockers open and close in a wave towards you.
I don't think anyone with a bad heart should play this game

and I thought Doom 3 was scary, its just child's play now.

shooting the hammerhead gun with its depleted uranium spikes (like in the original FEAR) is fun when bodies get nailed to a wall. and blowing up bodies with an auto shotgun is really close range so that you get showered in blood is crazy.

I though Oblivion was scary when it came out I think 2004 or so

I don't think I've ever been scared in a game. Definitely never frightened or afraid.
I have been surprised or spooked in a few, usually by something completely unexpected, like enemies appearing in a room you just checked was clear.

Though there was a point in time where I was scared of how bad my addiction to Titan Quest had become. Does that count?

F.E.A.R was also when Alma was around, I was going to get F.E.A.R 2 today but the rain and thunder stopped me damn weather

The only thing that ever made me jump was in one of the Resident Evil games, just walking down an empty hallway and Nemesis decides to come crashing through the wall. Made me drop my beer :(

Think I've been desensitised over the years, nothing seems to get me going now, not the original F.E.A.R. or Dead Space.

I would say Deqd Space was intense but not scary for me. There where a few parts that made me jump.
Now Doom 3 scared me, well the start of the game did after about the 50th metal hallway i was all scared out. It was the first intense game i bought (or at the time my PC could play)

bioshock kind of freaked me out a first, it was 12 am @_@ but yo get use to it and just hit the with the wrench =D.

i know the feeling my addiction to freelancer.was almost like a drug addiction.

I think I was pretty badly addicted to Final Fantasy 7 a couple years ago

I 've played final Fantasy 14 times over or more so yea I think I was pretty addicted

seriously though did they ask like 5 guys to make a game and just say! hey make a game because ummmm you can and we don't care when its made but make it to the highest standard."

so they try but the ghost of new technology keeps scaring them into stoppping for a while

F.E.A.R is seriously scary yes, i don't have it but when i went ronud to my mates house once he told me and my other friend to wotch him play, we sat there on his couch scared so badly, especially when you see the doctor then just blood EVERYWHERE.

Gears of War 1 wasnt scary, but it did get a bit jumpy when your in the dark and a random wrech jumps up and attacks ur back.

I only really find games scary the first time I play them through - after that, it starts to become a bit predictable, so the fear loses its strength.

Games I found scary:
FEAR
Doom 3
Aliens vs Predator
Far Cry

There's also a fine line between "scary" and "nerve-wracking".

Based on the effects of the first play-through, though, I'd have to say that Aliens vs Predator is the scariest game I've played. The Aliens are very fast, and can pop out from nowhere. It only takes a couple of hits to kill you, no matter what race you're playing as, and that adds to the fear a lot.

I don't normally play "scary games" but the scariest I played was condemned. I think it was the first one for the 360. After that would be Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube. If you have never played that game, its the best Gamecube game ever. Which isn't saying much, but still...
I remember jumping a number of times. And sometimes the game would like go right into this like in-game cut scene where you couldn't control your character and something horrible would happen. Or the game would give you a weird like BSOD thing and it would say that your gamecube has had a fatal system error. But that was just part of the game. Really cool. I would say that Eternal Darkness was the coolest scariest game I ever played. But condemned was a game I had to walk away from because it was just too much.

I find that with Fear 2 the scary parts will always be scary because you don't know when alma will pop out and jump you
(she's no kid anymore!) more like a raving crazy dead teenage telepathic with thing that can rip apart your skin with your thoughts.

and there'ss ghosts popping up out of nowhere!. dure you can shoot them but its totally dark and your flashlight doesn't work and they make lots of noise and pop up ver suddenly

LEft 4 Dead isn't really too scary because I know how the game works now but once they put in that survival mode, hopefully with more than 2 or 3 rounds now that will be awesome. and if you got to play someone's new map made with the Left 4 Dead SDK that will be awesome.

yeah she's grown up 14 or more, and the story really cleared out now, I have finished the school part and the underground facility, and Alma is Naked o_O
what the hell??
but she's really scary :P and what about about those bloody things that came out to kill you and pops up with a creepy sound LOL!!!!
