Ive played most of FEAR now, its been mostly creepy not scary. :/ and my comp crashes on the part where the reactor blows up D:

I forget which one it was, but I believe Silent Hill 3 for the PS2, I was playing it "properly" too, in the pitch Black with the sound on really loud, some great psychological moments in that.

I don't think I've been really scared in a game either, although I have jumped (like many of you) at things popping up. This happened most often in the original Half-Life (I don't think the second one had nearly as many of those moments). I never played FEAR, but if the demo was any indication I don't think I'd have done much else than jump as well. I do want to try some of the legendary scary games, though, because stuff like System Shock 2 really does look horrifying.

Does fear of failure count? Because some games are so DAMN HARD that you fear you're going to fail AGAIN FOR THE 50 BILLIONTH TIME - after a ridiculously long and completely arbitrary, annoying gameplay passage.

Grrr I hate you for that Farcry.

Agreed.I haven't played that game in such a long time. It scared me because he came out of nowhere, literally almost fell off my chair. Dead serious, I literally jumped

With out a doubt, Silent Hill 2 was the scariest game I've ever played, gave me nightmares for a year. Next comes Doom 3, no nightmares but scares me no matter how many times I play. Then Resident Evil 4, did not even get past the first 2 minutes of the demo.

Other scary games are Half Life 2, Killing Floor, Siren, FEAR Perseus Mandate and FEAR 2

Stuntman Ignition, hardest game ever. Took me and my friend a whole summer to beat, and we were GOOD AT IT.

u gotta be kidding me, RE4??!!

that game is hilarous, I passed it 12 times, more of an action than a horror, silent hill truly is horrific but too many expected stuff happened there.. not like FEAR :D

but RE4 was is and will be the best horror action game ever made for PS2 I'm sure

RE4 was for the Gamecube, not the PS2.
Just so you know, you can try playing scary games with Kinemortophobia The fear of the undead, and see how YOU last.

Well, there was in fact a port to the PS2 and PC later on (not 100% sure if there was a PC version but the PS2 is certain). I think the statement stands true if you called it the best horror action game on either the GameCube or the PS2 :D
