idea for driving simulation

recently, the Gran Turismo series has been a big hit. so i was wondering: why not make a racing sim that features ALL production cars, including vans, pickups, small family cars, etc, and not just sports cars? the racing aspect would still be there, except with different and completely stock cars. Gran turismo's already had a good start to it as it features some production cars (but still mainly performance-oriented ones)

Re: idea for driving simulation

I've been thinking the same.

I would love a game that has Ford Fiesta's, Vauxhaul Vectras etc.

Another thing, Where hasnt the Bugatti Veyron appeared in any games yet? There is the Koenegsegg (sp) but no Veyrons :(

Re: idea for driving simulation

gran turismo actually has a lot of subcompact cars like the Ka and the Daihatsus and little peugeots, but very few in the midsize category. they do have an accord sedan and wagon, but no camry or avalon at all, except for a solara coupe (the altezza and aristo, were unheard-of until i found out they're actually lexuses. and if they're going to put in luxury cars, what about the toyota crown? or the nissan maxima?). and the only chevys are corvettes and camaros; i would have liked to see some impalas and malibus. minivans and pickups deserve appearances too. no need for off-road tracks, just their presence alone (and the ability to drive them, of course!) would be great.

Re: idea for driving simulation

I actually love the concept, but having every production car would take some serious space on the disk I would imagine. GT-IV actually had a few pick-ups, 4x4's and minivans and at least 1 race specifically designed for each of of these.

GT-V seems to have done the same thing every other game has done, graphics > gameplay (based on the demo atleast) but it'll also have 200 extra cars (over 900 in total) so, although not the same as getting every car in, I guess it's an improvement.

Re: idea for driving simulation

True. Gran Turismo has a healthy dose of cars in a wide range. But you must realize that most of the cars were performance-oriented. And I don't literally mean EVERY production car, just a nice Gran Turismo-standard selection. Meaning cars that people actually drive, not dream about. Especially the late 80's and early 90's when cars were simple, practical, and actually got 30-40mpg, unlike today where even compact cars get 120hp and have electrical accessories. Some good choices: 2000-2004 Oldsmobile Alero, 1998-2002 Olds Intrigue, early 90's Plymouth Sundance, early 90's Peugeot 505 and 405, Holden Commodore, Renault Clio, late 80's Honda Accord and Civic (Gran Turismo has those, but as far as I know, only in type R performance versions), early 90's Toyota Tercel and Camry and Crown, Ford Econoline and Transit (I've always wanted a large, full size 15-passenger van just for the sheer size of it), Ford Escort, etc, etc.

Re: idea for driving simulation

I know that one of the older Gran Tourismo games featured the Ford Taurus SHO Gen 3. I just wish they had the Gen 2, which is what I drive.
