First, the following is a post sent to Atari Support on Alone in the Dark:
Quote:
I just tried Devil May Cry 4 and that was even worst (keyboard control) than Alone in the Dark. Devil May Cry 4 PC is obviously designed for gamepad control. By the way, PC games designed to use gamepads, I place them in the category of a console game. Ended up returning the game. Note my comment about the PC standard in my support post. This is absolutely true. I've been playing PC games for decades (since Win98SE in fact) and this is the standard. The absolutely best options I've seen for a PC game with both 1st AND 3rd person views, was one that gave you several options on how to handle the camera in the 3rd-person. The default was the Atari method, mouse controls the camera (Free Camera). BUT there was a Fixed Camera option that kept the mouse for control of the character; AND 2 sub-options (Radio Buttons) for the camera, Fixed View or Follow Character. The Follow Character = above and behind the character all the time, looking in the direction the character was facing (this is the Oblivion method). What do you think? I would like to pressure Atari to use the standard PC keyboard control scheme. I note that other publishers of console games ported to PC seem to do it properly, so it CAN be done.

Re: Atari Poor Implementation of PC Keyboard Controls
PS: I just received Assassin's Creed and, as complex as the control options are, they use the PC standards; AND the game runs on console platforms.

Re: Atari Poor Implementation of PC Keyboard Controls
Maybe you could look online for a program that can temporarily remap your keyboard to reflect the different controls?
