Race Driver: GRID

has anyone tried the demo yet? I can't as I'm still finishing up on resetting my system after that dual-boot failure. How're the physics (the MAIN thing i really care about)? I heard that it may have taken on a Need for Speed approach in terms of gameplay and physics (which is REALLY bad, we have enough arcade racers already!!!), I hope Codemasters retains the formula of the previous RD games.

discuss below

Re: Race Driver: GRID

I'm not sure if RD:G is up on UK live for a demo or not, yes from what I've heard the handling is more arcade like than simulation.

Which is a shame I was wanting something to challenge Forza 2.

Once i'm back on live i'll try the demo and see what I think.

Re: Race Driver: GRID

ok, i've tried the demo today. and all i can say is that it's all but unplayable, due to horrible controls (adjusting the deadzone and saturation doesn't help at all). i've already uninstalled it. i hope the final product will have better controls than this.

edit: in fact, according to ign.com, Codemasters made this game to step AWAY from the simulation genre (http://pc.ign.com/articles/851/851773p1.html), which i think is a disgrace to what was an excellent series of sims. i may have to go with GTR or RACE now. or hope that either EA makes a better sim than their NASCAR series, or that another company take the license and make top-quality games.

Re: Race Driver: GRID

ok, i've now learned that there will be no pit stops or car tuning in this game. that is the final straw, i am definitely not going to buy it. I hope next year's Formula One game will be much more realistic.

Re: Race Driver: GRID

I got the 360 demo yesterday. It's pretty and I like the interface but the controls are just rubbish.

Re: Race Driver: GRID

yeah, same goes for the PC version. i say wait till the new GTR comes out from Simbin, or if you're less serious, get Gran Turismo 5.
