what about those so-called GTA-clones? The best one I know of is probably Mafia, and another popular one is the True Crime series (though, in my opinion, other than their near-perfect recreation of cities, is terrible).

Driv3r received pretty poor reviews, whereas Mafia was both Gamespot and IGN's editors choices. But, if you're a Driver fan, check it out.

Yet another GTA-clone: "Just Cause"

Also "Transformers: The Game", which was very repetitive.

The Gothic series is also and open-ended world that you can take at your own pace. They are absolutely fantastic games that I can't speak of highly enough. Gothic 1 and 2 may be dated graphically by todays standards but they were top-notch for their day. The story and characters are superb.

I haven't played Gothic 3 yet but it looks quite pretty. I hope it hold up to the standards of it's predecessors.

GOTHIC 3, GOTHIC 3, GOTHIC 3, GOTHIC 3!!!! Im about 190 hours in ,and loving it!!!
My all time favorite game..
Just remember download all the patches, get all the tweaks, up your virtual ram, and don't try to get done with it quickly, explore and take your time :)

Brilliant story line by the way, makes up for the bugs!!
