Re: PS3 or 360???
Definitly 360; not only does it have more AND better games, but the online play is way better. And lots of fun free things in the marketplace! There are few PS3 exclusives, such as lair and resistance, compared to all sorts of Xbox exclusives like halo and gears of war and orange box. So yeah, I guess I am just trying to say. Get a 360.

Re: PS3 or 360???
The Playstation is a superior machine, but XBOX has better online capabilities, and the controler is more ergonomic feeling. The playstation is quiter and more stable, and has built in blue ray and wireless 802.11, exclusive Grand Tourismo and other sony games. I had an xbox red ring of death costed me alot of money and pain, I feel it could burn out at any minute.

Re: PS3 or 360???
The Xbox360 owns a large share of the gaming market, with easier to program (and normally better-running) games, and more exclusives/extra game content. The only problem I see is what's to come in the future.
I think that things such as controllers, microphones, and internet gaming as a case of preference (i.e. Do you want to pay to play?). Sony is coming out with Home soon, which could be a competitor to XboxLive. In the cheaper price, the xbox 360 has a lot of shortcomings compared to the PS3: For instance, the most recent failure rate %age was somewhere around 16.4%. Compare this to the PS3, which sports about a 3%. I have personally had no experience with Microsoft customer support, but I’ve seen some pretty mixed emotions. The PS3 comes with lithium ion rechargeable batteries for it’s controller, which currently (waiting for Dualshock 3) is lacking in the rumble department. The 360’s controller can fulfill your rumble desires, but requires a battery pack that is sold separately. The 360 also lacks built-in wireless capabilities, and the ability to read HD-DVDs without an attachment (though HD-DVD is sorta dead now). On the gameplay end of things: The PS3 is somewhat famous for it’s stuttery frame-rate, texture problems, and poor porting. Once developers get more acquainted with the system, I can see this stopping. The PS3 normally has better audio (not that big of a deal unless you sank a lot of money in a nice system), and better scaling of the darker colours (mostly black :P). Ps3’s SIXAXIS function is generally underused, underdeveloped, and sometimes outright terrible (see Lair). Though I feel it was used properly in some games (i.e. Folklore). The 360 does have gamerscores and achievements, so you can show off to your friends! On a final note: The thing that really weirded me out was how fast that Microsoft dropped the original Xbox when the Xbox360 came out. Looking at the playstation 2, Sony continues to produce games (albeit sub-par to the 360, and PS3) on a regular basis. If this is any indication of the future, I would personally go with a PS3. |

Re: PS3 or 360???
You're going to get a lot of advice here, based on personal preferences and that's what it's down it. Depends on the types of games you prefer cause ultimately a console is only as good as its games.
I'm going to recommend the PS, based on my personal experience. I'm not much of a FPS player and most exclusive games for the box seem to be taking that path. You get Blu-Ray, which, if you enjoy watching movies, will wield better results in terms or audio and video quality. Depending on the version you buy, you also get built-in wireless and backward compatibility and most games are free to play online. I personally prefer the PS controller. Now that most major companies have ceased to release their movies on HDDVD, the PS is a little more future proof in that it's a little clear what is going to replace DVD's. (But this isn't a given fact as something better then Blu-Ray could be released) Also browser through the console support section to see the types of issues each console has and their solutions.

Re: PS3 or 360???
defintly 360. PS3 has good graphics and all but when it comes to game selection they're is nothin'. the 360 has the graphics and the best game selection. Halo 3, Call of Duty four. Not incldsing the great controller and online gaming are better. The 360 has a reasonable price and the microsoft industry are developing new and better games for it every week. The 360 is the way to go.

Re: PS3 or 360???
You are aware that for the "reasonable" price of a 360 that there's some features that are clearly left out that the more "expensive" PS3 has as standard features.
I find the game selection and controller based on personal preference. I mean anyone who does even 30 mins of research on these consoles before buying them would know what they're getting themselves into exclusives/controller wise. I personally prefer the PS3 controller because of it's striking similarities to the PS2 and PS1's controllers. This is not to say that the PS3's Sixaxis or Dualshock3 is better than the 360's, but if I could play a 360 with a PS3 controller, I would. I'm not going to deny that early-on the PS3 had a terrible selection of games. I almost went for a 360 for that reason. Presently it seems that both consoles are pretty equal with some of the exciting exclusives: Xbox360 Exclusives: Presently: Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Project Gotham Racing (3-5 ?), Ace Combat 6 (friend’s going ape **** over that game atm) To Come: Halo Wars, Gears of War 2 (Prolly missing a lot here) PS3: Presently: Unreal Tournament 3 (delayed release on the 360), Resistance Fall of Man, Gran Turismo 5 (Prologue), Warhawk To Come: SOCOM, God of War 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Online, Final Fantasy 13, Haze. Also, if any system is developing “new and better games every week”, it’ll be the PS3. The cell processor is apparently very difficult to program for, which is resulting in games which are not at their full potential. Once developers get more accustomed to it, game quality will increase. |

Re: PS3 or 360???
I would and will say Xbox 360, but that probably due to the fact I have one.
Good games, good online factors, Gamerscore and Achievements make a little bit of competetive fun between friends. |

Re: PS3 or 360???
I still consider the PS3 to be a next gen console. once they find a way to use the bluray discs to full potential it will leave the xbox behind. Also its able to play bluray dvd's which is a nice bonus since its replacing normal dvds. Xbox since its been around longer has a better selection of games, better controlers, better online (even though they charge) and for the most part seems to perform more consistantly. You'll also save a couple hundred if you buy a xbox.
Honestly i dont know what i would get since i dont really like console systems in the first place. But i think i would lean towards a xbox. |

Re: PS3 or 360???
If I'm not mistaken, Metal Gear Solid 4 is having to make compromises because a single blu-ray can't hold the 50+ Gb of content that Konami wants to put on it. So for now it seems that the disc format is plateauing.
Then again there's nothing really wrong with multi-disk games. |

Re: PS3 or 360???
We've been doing the multi-disc dance since the 90's with PlayStation games. I have absolutely no issue with a game that spans multiple discs as to me that just means "CONTENT! CONTENT! CONTENT!"
If Konami is finding that 50GB isn't enough for their game them I'm in awe of what that game will be when it comes out. HUEG.

Re: PS3 or 360???
I would say the PS3 simply because I have one, but I also know that my friend's Xbox 360 had major problems and it scratched his discs.
I think it's more your preference anyway, if you are willing to shell out a bit more then buy a PS3 because it's time will come. |
