Games for lower end computers?
I have a computer that I am keeping in my room exclusivley but unfortunatley (untill I get my new gaming rig) its a piece of crap with some of the worst hardware imaginable. So I was wondering what anyone would suggest for some good low end games I would really appreciate it. Oh, and free would be ideal, but the cheaper the better :)
(Just for the record, I'm talking about 200MB DDR RAM, on board video, win XP) Thanks, Axis |

Re: Games for lower end computers?
I don't know what kind of gaming you're into, but I guess the direction to be looking at would be older games. Lucky for you, many of them are abandonware, so you could get them for free.
One game that's kept me busy for hours is a fantastic puzzle game by the name of DROD (Deadly rooms of Death). You can download it free here: http://forum.caravelgames.com/downloads.php (download the architects edition) |

Re: Games for lower end computers?
Sorry for not being specific about this, pretty much the only games I dont' want are puzzle (very few instances is this not true) and sports. As in, I want shooter/adventure/RPG/RTS
Sorry bout the miscommunication, I will look into that puzzle game however. |

Re: Games for lower end computers?
Well I didn't think I could, but I played quake last night for like 4 hours, never thought I could get so into something like that. Are there any other games similar to that, that are free with full mouse support?

Re: Games for lower end computers?
Doom is similar to Quake, and kept me up til the early hours when it first came out. Might look a bit dated and blocky now though.
You could go to any of the game download sites and look for demos that are over 2 years old, then narrow down the selection by genre. FilePlanet (old-school games) Classic Games Game World Network Gamespot MegaGames

LOL this thread has made me giggle. :D
Just go to www.canyourunit.com and look at all the games in the drop down list that you would like then see if it will run on your PC. :) Mikey. |

Re: Games for lower end computers?
My rig won't run Final Fantasy VII, which isn't much newer than Diablo.

Re: Games for lower end computers?
Actually I have that lying around somewhere, do you think it would run with the expansion? I also have diablo 1, if I absolutely have to do it. Are there any games similar to quake graphic quality that allow me to shoot using my mouse fully?
Thanks for the help guys |
