A Couple Of Questions On Oblivion

A) I was approached by a member of the Dark Brotherhood after I had become champion of the Arena and was asked to kill an old man called Rufio. He told me that if I kill him I will be accepted into the Dark Brotherhood.

Now I'm stuck as to what to do, kill him or don't kill him. I want to know how big this will affect the game because if I do kill him I'm in the Dark Brotherhood and I take it that means I'm bad, but if I don't kill him I'll never receive contact from the Dark Brotherhood again.

B) How do I enchant items such as swords?

A) Go ahead and kill him. If you do it right, no one will know, and it won't have any effect on the rest of your gameplay, except that you'll get to do the Dark Brotherhood quests. The DB quest series contains one of the funniest, most enjoyable quests in the game, so join them and don't miss out.

B) You need to be in the Mages Guild, and you need to have access to the Arcane University. In the university is a room with enchanting altars, where you can enchant items. There are a couple of other ways as well:

1. Close an Oblivion Gate and use the Sigil stone to enchant an item. (You don't get to choose what enchament it has.)

2. Get the Wizard's Tower mod (included in Knights of the Nine, or available for paid download). In the wizard's tower is an enchanting altar. You'll need to buy magetallow candles to be able to use it though.

You don't HAVE to go and kill him NOW. He will be there, well, forever basically and there is no time limit on the quest. Feel free to do whatever you want and come back to it later, once you have killed him, you will be able to continue with the Dark Brotherhood.
And yes, some of the best quests in the game, as Indoril pointed out.

No worries. Keep an eye out for the party quest. It's the best on in the game, IMHO.

Huh? Lucien's cool. Why kill him? I relate to him more than any other NPC in the game... well, except for Mannimarco . I love that staff.

I've just encountered another problem... I was in the shop in Imperial City called 'The Best Defence' when all of a sudden a Mythic Dawn member entered the shop and started attacking me. The shop owners then started attacking him but for some reason the Heavy Armour guy ran out of the shop.

I went outside to try and look for him but he's nowhere to be seen. I then waited 24 hours to see if he would come back to the shop but he hasn't and I can't find him anywhere. Is there a way to get him back to the shop?

That's rather amusing...Well the good part is Best Defense only has low-level armor. Once you level up, your gear will come from humanoids in caves and ruins and stuff.

So basically...I don't think you can get him back under the circumstances. Browse around the other cities for armor until then I guess.

DB quests are so much fun its chop chop DONE! I'm doing the thieves guild right now and quite frankly I find it boring.

There isn't really any way to get him back. If you could be bothered, you could go into the Construction Set, find his ID, work out the code required to place him at a certain position, and then enter that code using the console in game.

Other than that, do you have a savegame just before the attack? If you haven't done too much since, load that game and get attacked outside instead. If you have done a lot since, just find someone else who does what you want. There are plenty of merchants around, and quite a few trainers. You just have to find someone who does what you want.

Since he isn't an essential NPC i'd say he got killed.

When in game, enter the console by pressing the '~' key, then type 'player.placeatme 00015ead'.

You should see some eyeballs and a mouth appear in front of you, take a step back... Hey Presto! It's Vernado!

While still in the console, click on Vernado, then type 'resurrect'.
He should dissapear and return to his daily schedule of standing in 'The Best Defense'.
