Games at work

A few of my co-workers and I are getting new systems here at work (Dells :-/ with x2 3800, ATI 1300 256, 2GB w/ dual 19" widescreens) and we are going to start what we call "Fraggin' Fridays" where we stop working at 4 and load up a game and play for a while on the network. The thing is, we are running short on our list of games to play. We are thinking strategy and shooters. Preferably free, but if not, low cost. We have so far:

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
America's Army
F.E.A.R Combat (1.8 GB! )

Can anyone else come up with any others that are free? (if not, low cost)

Thanks in advance!

Well, you've got three shooters so far and no strategy so here is a couple low cost ones (I can't think of any free ones).

The Battle for Middle Earth - You can pick it up for about $20AUS and it is excellent for Lans, not much resource management, just create as many units as you can as fast as you can.

Defcon - Apparently also about $20AUS, i played the demo and it was very intriuging. The thing is you don't really win, it just, whoever loses the least can stay behind and pick up the remains. The goal is to nuke your enemies and whoever has the most people remaining wins.

Far Cry - Pretty darn cheap too and is great fun when you can snipe someone from two islands away. Heh. One moment they see the flash of the sun reflecting off your scope, the next they are dead.

Or you could get better computers and get Supreme Commander when it is released in February .
It's going to be one heck of a game .

Alien Arena 2007, a free 3D shooter game, like Quake or Unreal but more cartoony.

Unreal Tournament 2004. That thing will last you ages and is quite cheap ($9.99USD the last time I checked).

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Spies vs. Mercs and Co-op mode will make you love and hate your co-workers. It's also dirt cheap as well ($9.99USD).

Diablo 2: It's Diablo 2 for crying out loud. It's also cheap ($19.99USD).

For cheap LAN gaming, those three have (in my experience) gone well.

By the way, how exactly are you able to commandeer these systems for gaming? Small company I gander?

You could try a game such as Diablo II, if you are into that sort of hack and slash game (I quite enjoy it) It can be picked up quite cheaply, I think around $25(Aus).

There are rumours of a PC release, but something like UT2007 would be better, especially for LAN's.

Since the BattleChest was so cheap I bought a few copies for me and my friends so we can play on BN or on a LAN.

we got our new systems and we have Wolfenstein ET loaded, but we haven't played yet. I played it for a little bit at home and it actually seems slightly 'cartoon-ish', but I'm used to play DOD:S so the graphics are a few years old compared to modern shooters. Should still be fun though.

Wolfenstein ET is based on the Quake3 engine so it is fairly old but still alot of fun. its similar to DOD since u need to do objectives like take in flag points blow stuff up etc.

borrow warcraft 3 of someone then buy frozen throne for $15 AUS from eb games. otherwise the games i like include command and conquer generals, comapny of heroes, age of mythology (titans), age of empires 3, warcraft the frozen throne, i might get supreme commander, maybe lord of the rings. im a huge gaming person i have already pre ordered c&c 3. for shoot em' up you got cs. i really only play rts games because they are best with friends or lan. i have a ps2 for my action games.

Yup, already downloaded it at home, but haven't put it on a DVD to bring in yet. D/led it in 2 1/2 hours!

We just had our first "Friday Fragg Fest" last week and it was sweet! We played W:ET and had a blast (pun intended....gernades were used quite a bit ).

But LAN Hacking is so... morally ambiguous!
It's incredibly fun though.
