Online gaming w/ps2 hooked to computer & what is an emulator?

I finally found the funds to by my daughter a ps2. It had been promised for a long time. We purchased a slimline model capable of hooking to the PC. And I've been wanting to try gaming with the ps2 hooked to the pc online, but don't know anything else about it except it is capable of it. What is an emulator, and what issues will I encounter once online ?

A PS2 is a game console that is designed to be played using a TV set. The slim model includes both a modem for dial-up connections and a NIC for connecting to broadband networks.

An emulator is a piece of software that "tricks" a computer processor into thinking it's a processor for another device. Commonly this is used to play ROM (Read-Only Memory) files for older console games. This is generally a grey area and will not be discussed in the forums.

i think what you're trying to talk about here is getting your ps2 to play online...

you need to take your "internet cord" (ethernet cable) from your computer, and plug it into the ps2...

I was just asking because I know nothing about PS2 online gaming, and had
read something about it here, is all. Just wondered what it was, and although you gave me a description of what it does, I can't say that I now
understand, so I dont' need any more information about it. Again Thanks
