Hey guys, I have an oldish (2003/4) second hand laptop that I accuired to keep me entertained while im in transit as a musician (apart from playing its the most boring job in the world..... just waiting, all the ******* time). I checked the graphics and its an ati mobility radeon 7500 which I must say, for a laptop, doesnt perform too shoddily. It supports anything up to and including dx8 and plays some dx 9 nine games where graphics acceleration isnt a huge requirement. The question Is, what is the best game to install on it that has huuuuge, expansive gameplay, a long playing life and general good playabilty that im not going to get bored with quickly. Graphics/genre are not an issue, my only want is game-play.
cheers

Give Morrowind a go. It will only play on fairly low detail on your system, but it will play, and it will give you hours and hours of enjoyment (if you like that kind of thing). I still think it is the best game ever made (it's an RPG), despite it being 4 years old now.
If you prefer FPS's, Red Faction had a very long single player campaign, which I found quite enjoyable. Half-Life was also excellent - long campaign, very enjoyable.

I have to agree with Indoril here. For that system Morrowind would probably be the best, most involoving RPG i've ever played. It's cheap too, being an older game.
If your not into RPG's you could also try the Original Black and White. Some loved it some hate it but it allows for potentially limitless gameplay and is just generally a fun little sim people/god game. Also, Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne expansion set had quite a long storyline, coupled with single player skirmish games it has potential for a good many hours of enjoyable gaming. Happy Gaming!!! |

Thanks for the input guys, I went with black and white in the end and i gotta say, for an oldie, man... what a game!!!
The final fantasy thing never caught on with me for some reason, i can't find anything wrong with the game itself though, it just never popped my cork.

You two couldn't possibly have the slightest bias for Morrowind. Oh no...
![]() By the way, a trick to long gaming is to have a cheap parlor/lightweight game interspersed during play. You will have lows as well as highs while playing that long PC game, and a few rounds of Hamsterball or something will work wonders to extend playability. |

Not just Morrowind though, all the Elderscrolls games have been awesome. I liked Neverwinter Nights as well, i might have a look at getting the second one. Anybody played it? Is it good, bad or ugly? Last edited by Tiber Septim; 12-09-2006 at 03:45 AM. |
