Any new game ideas out there?
I've been trying to think of new ideas for games that are, atleast, some-what fresh. Whether it is a rehash (sequel/prequel) of a game or all new, I think it would be cool to get a list going. Not like it would actually happen, but I thought also about emailing some ideas to developing studios in hopes of giving an idea some attention.
One idea I had was for "The Oregon Trail III" Ever play "The Oregon Trail II"? Very cool old school game! Make a third edition with stunning 3D graphics, 1st/3rd person views, resource management, dynamic weather, dynamic scenarios (distaster or uplifting), realistic health conditions and problems, hunting expeditions, etc. Everything the second had, but up-to-date and better! That, my friends, would be a game I would pay a good amount of money for!Got any good ideas?

DotA the mod for WC3 on a Source engine :p
(could be done easily since hl2 is moddable ..... just need some 3d artists to convert heros from wc3 to port to source models and ΄some coders to code the gameplay (shouldnt be tooooo hard) and well the regular stuff all is there) i really want to see some strategie based game in super nice 3d where you can go into 1st person view and fight with your units or heros How about a virtual world of NYC or any other big city where you can do what ever you want like SimsOnline just more realistic. that would require massive server space but compare it to WoW just with realistic stuff... GTA + WOW/SWG + real world stuff = massive online realistic world style multiplayer oh and diablo3 :D

If there were a game that combined the skill sets of many types of games it would be fun. By skill sets I mean: problem solving, puzzles, riddles, hidden doors/keys, bashing heads, flying, shooting, driving, climbing, strategy, resource allocation, logistics, team work, double crosses, politics, (dare I say it) morals...
Some things that could be added to make things more realistic (that are not in any game that I know of - which isn't saying much): Stuff breaks - guns jam - bombs are sometimes duds, You can only carry so much ammo There really are physical limits to most things Everybody has to eat And last but not least: you can only die once. I'd like to see a game where if you do something stupid and get killed - you can't play for some period of time... OK I'll go crawl back under my rock now...

I love all your ideas, yustr! Fantastic! Except..... "morals"???!!!! NEVER!!!
There are actually a few games which have guns jamming and bombs being duds and players only being able to carry so much ammo, etc - but only a few. Anyways, I was going to give an explanation of what I'd like to see, except yustr's gone and done it for me. You must've pulled that straight out of my head, yustr - the only thing I didn't think of was morals...

Eureka
He's an idea that just might be do-able: Title: Lost Behind Enemy Lines
Premise: A pilot is downed behind enemy lines and must use training, cunning and the very limited tool kit he baled out with to make it back safely. She can creep and sneek around. He has to find food and water. She might come across citizens but has to determine if they're sympathetic or aggressive. He has to dodge the enemy who's searching. She has to arrange for rescue. Maybe he has a map - maybe not. Etc... Back under my rock now....the light's too bright for me.

I would buy that game!! Awesome idea! Do you think any major game developers will find this? I can see that being a series of different time era's and wars or one large game where you can choose what time era and war to play it in. Yustr....genius!

something similar i think already exists :D ur somewhere in a POW campt need to break out and get back to american forces without getting detected.
i think its called prisoner of war the u die and thats it thing was implemented in Diablo2 Hardcore i think Half Life 2 and the source engine has alot of these aspecs that yustr mentioned. you just need to realize those νdeas can only be implemented in a coop story mode or single player mode as for online play everyone just wants to run around and shoot people cause its more fun and less time consuming. what i mean by less time consuming is, games like counter-strike take about 30 seconds to load 1 minute to join a game. so if you really have only 10 minutes to play u can still have that wich is one of the main reasons i play it.

). Then set out on the mission. There should be times when objectives are reevaluated and tactics changed. Maybe have to return to base for additional supplies or weapons. Etc...How'd you like to be General Eisenhower, commanding all type of forces, rather than just a tank commander. You'd be the one to decide if tanks or bombers was most likely to accomplish the mission based on the information you get from all type of sources. And then you'd get to drive the tank or pilot the bomber. It all happens at a pace that doesn't require endless firing and racing off, mindlessly, to the next destination. I played Silent Hunter III where I actually had to learn how to pilot the U-Boat and the time scale could be adjusted as I got more proficient. It's a very good game but is only from one perspective. But, and I understand this perfectly, I AM NOT THE TARGET AUDIENCE of game marketing. If what's being offered is what is wanted, so be it. I just wish we could make one that challenged our brains as much as our fingers.

Heh, funny you mention that. It made me think of Operation Flashpoint. Very intelligent game, you couldn't just rush out and shoot things Rambo-style. two shots and you couldn't walk, you had to crawl, one shot to the upper torso area and you were dead. You did recon missions and it was all very tactical. In some cases you even had to stay in formation with your squad leader and radio in to other forces such as a tank squad to let them know your point of attack, so they could go around and flank the enemy.
There were even short, non storyline mission were you had a team of about three men and had to direct them into enemy lines in the night, your objective was to assasinate one person and get out alive BEFORE dawn. The rest was up to you. Not as easy as it sounds. I loved that game. |

operation flash point was definatly a good game ! i loved the james bond nightfire game aswell as you had really needed to strategize what todo next. sometimes u could kill people sometimes u had to go undetected but this is very similar to splinter cell and it comes down to a one perspective game.
