Not sure if I can ask PSP related q's on this forum, but here goes:
Im getting a PSP soon and would just like to know a few things, 1) Is the PSP earphone jack a standard stereo output jack, meaning can I plug any earphones in or is it a special output jack designed for PSP earphones. 2) Can one record your own UMD discs and if so how would you do it (by using a CD/DVD writer on a PC), or can you only copy stuff onto the memory stick? 3) What are the advantages/disadvantages of upgrading your firmware and is it worth it to upgrade. I am not planning to run any emulators or homebrew. Just want to be able to play games that I bought, watch movies and listen to music. 4) How long does the battery last when fully charged? If anyone can assist me it would be much appreciated. |

1) Yep, it's just a standard earphone jack, any old headphones will fit. It does have a special little slot just beside the headphone jack that the headphones that the PSP comes with will also connect to, this allows the remote on that set of heaphones to work.
2)As far as i know you can only use the memory sticks. Whilst it is physically possible to burn a UMD you would have to somehow steal the burners from Sony (i do not condone theft ), then find out where they are getting their discs from, as neither are avaliable to the general public.3)Most newer games come with the upgraded firmware and you will only be able to play those games once you have upgraded. Some newer versions of the firmware include new features, such as the web browser, support for more formats of music/ movies and also support for flash based applications when using the web browser. It shouldn't be a problem if you aren't planning on using any of the open source Homebrew software. 4)In games with the screen set to highest brightness and the audio as loud as it will go my PSP lasts ~2.5 hours on a standard battery. In movies it is a bit over 3 hours and you can usually get 4.5-5 hours just listening to music (it helps if you turn the screen off when doing this). Hope this helps, have fun! |

Thank you kindly for the help. I been trying to join other PSP forums to find that out but for some reason they dont send me the confirmation email to activate my account so I cant post or nothing.
I eventually became desperate and started to look around in this forum and hoped that someone would help me! So thank you once again for that info!
