Call of Duty 3 for every console and not computer?!

I have known that COD3 was only for console, but I thought it was only for next-gen consoles. I was just at callofduty.com and it is also being made for the PS2 and original Xbox, not to mention xbox360, WII, and PS3. If it is for all those consoles, why the heck not for PC?! The game started on pc! I'm a huge fan of this series and I am almost....hurt.....that they aren't making it for pc. Has anyone heard why not? I can't seem to find an answer.

I hate it when they do that! I don't see why they don't make all games for consoles and PC. They made a bunch of MechWarrior games for PC, and then put Mech Assault on XBox only. That really annoyed me.

I think it's probably got something to do with the fact that more and more people are playing consoles. Game makers now think that consoles are the best way to go.

I personally hate, with the only exception being Halo, playing First-Person Shooters on consoles. Why they would make a Call of Duty game not for the PC is beyond a gamer's comprehension. Afterall let's face it, mice are greater than thumbsticks for FPS games.

I am personally imcapable of using a thumbstick to play any first person game. It is equally impossible to play an RTS on a console. The only games i am able to play on consoles are platform/puzzle games and most of the time the camera is so dodgy you can't see yourself because of walls etc.

It's probably just me, but i just don't see the sense in it.

It's not just you. I have yet to actually meet anyone who likes the thumbstick more than the mouse for FPS games (with the exception of those who, sadly, have never tried a FPS on a PC).

As for RTS games, you're certainly right about that. I remember playing the original Command and Conquer for the PSX, using a link cable for two-player with two TVs, and even that was dreadful (though at the time it was admittedly really nifty). I'm quite sure everyone has had that moment where they're drag-clicking groups of units only to mis-select some because of that controller.

Maybe they'll release a port for Call of Duty 3? I shudder to think I'd have to play a port of that game when it rightfully belongs on the PC natively, but whiners can't be choosers.

i have an xbox and halo2 i got it for free and dont play it ... why cause controllers suck for anything besides car games,puzzle games,arcade games and sport games.

i agree fully that cod3 should be out on computer. and i think its being released for the xbox 360 cause the screenshots dont look like xbox graphics.
whats also surprizing that they dont have a ps3 version out ...

interesting saw adds for the cod3 for the wii ... and the ps3 that they got released november 16th. but none for PC ftl maybe we should write some emails to them

Porting CoD3 for the pc would require almost a complete rewrite of the code if I am not mistaking. Taking into account all the various mobo sound cards video cards the drivers for each and so on and so forth. Plus interaction with all the other programs running on pc, make this a formidable task. Putting up the code for the consoles is a heck of easier then pcs.

With the decline of the pc gamer combined with the mentioned above it really does not surprise me.

Windows Vista and Microsoft are "suppose" to help this though with Games for Windows They have completely thrown out the Dx code and started from scratch. Thus making it easier for games makers to code a game without the relics of bloated software. Microsoft has also came up with Games for Windows where they are purchasing sales space in major retailors to sell pc games from any game makers that carry the GfW logo. There are several factors that Microsoft has implemented to carry the GfW logo. Naturally this coincides with the launch of Vista and DX10 which at this time will only be available if you shell out the bucks for Microsofts latest OS that comes in more flavors then Baskin and Robbins Ice Cream. There is staunch resistance to GfW though from hard core gamers because to carry the GfW logo, game developers must also port their games for the XBox 360. So that Xboxers and pc gamers can play on the same servers. Microsoft will also launch the "Live Anywhere" which will combine the Xbox Gamer label with the PC so that each platform can communicate with each other. Now naturally one service will be free (read crippled) and there will be a pay service.

yes......

but the simple fact remains that they have written the code for PC first for 1 and 2, then ported to Console. If they port to pc from console with 3, it's going to be crap. A computers capabilities are far greater than a consoles. They should have started PC first and the ported to console. But thats what you get when you hire a developer for the third installment of an award winning series that didn't create the frist two.
