Nintendo DS Lite
Nintendo Japan has just added a page that contains the first
official details of the redesigned version of their dual-screened handheld system, titled Nintendo DS Lite. You can view the page containing the original announcement on the official Nintendo Japan website here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/news/060126.html The Nintendo DS Lite is a significantly slimmer system, apparently less than two thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and 20% lighter. The system will also offer four different levels of brightness control, similiar to the feature found in Sony's PlayStation Portable. Furthermore, it will continue to be compatible with Game Boy Advance games. The Nintendo DS Lite will weigh 218 grams with dimensions of 133mm x 73.9mm x 21.5mm in size, as opposed to the original DS' size of 149mm x 85mm x 29mm. As well as the reduce in size, the power switch has been moved to the right-hand side of the system. The system is currently slated to cost 16,800 yen for Japan, which is roughly $145USD, or around $192AUD. Nintendo plans to release the Nintendo DS Lite in Japan on March 2, 2006. While the above announcement is for Japan, Nintendo is expected to make announcements of the system for North American, Europe and Australian regions shortly. |
