Cooked Slim PS2....

Mine got zapped the other day by a surge and it actually crystallized the laser lens. Should I 1) pitch it or 2) attempt to repair it?

well if the whole board is fried then pitch. but if its just the lazer then it should just need a replacment for it.

I've had to open my PS2 up so many times its not even funny. Pulled that stupid silver cable out 6 or 7 times (the one that links the eject/power buttons to the mobo), that's a b*tch to get back in. Stupid laser anyway...

I've taken apart plenty of the large PS2s. I've yet to get a slim one to work on. You can usually order the lense component online. I've seen them for about USD $35.
