Final Fantasy VII

I've finally beaten it... I was completely blown away by how good this game is.

I played VIII, most of IX, and X before this one, and I thought they were pretty good. Now I realize that the other's don't even hold a candle to it.

Now I want to see advent children. Only 40 more days!

I love FF7...well it was the only one I every played. Aside from some of the insanely long video sequences it was a pretty good game. Slightly behind in the graphics area, but what do you expect from a game that was released in '97?

Final Fantasy VII was an experimental game. SquareSoft had barely begun using 3D technology when FF7 was created. I also have videos of their early concept work using SGI workstations. Now if you look at Advent Children compared to the game itself you'll see a world of improvement.

The only thing I didn't like was the polygonal rendering of characters. At least they used the more realistic looking forms in battle.

As I recall, the character design was taken from Wild Arms. The best models were used in the very last battle. Probably not maxed out for the PS1's hardware, but pretty enough.
