Which PS2 version?

What is the best version to get for PS2? I've heard the v7 is really good..Does anybody have any idea about this?

If I were to get a PS2 I'd go with the smaller version, just for the looks. I imagine they are all relatively the same.

My brother has the first generation and it runs great. My room mate and I have the slim models. So far the only problem I see is that my HDD kit doesn't quit fit in the new model.
