trying to load S.T.A.L.K.E.R clear sky - help please

i have successfully installed the (original) disk but when i go to play the game it loads up i get the logo video, the music starts, the radioactive arrow/cursor/icon appears (and i can move it about like any normal cursor) but just a black screen - nothing happens !

I have also installed the patch too.

any ideas ?

Do you have enough HDD space. Maybe you need directx 9.0c? Link is in my sig.
Your card looks old, lemme double check. How old is your computer?

not to sure how old - bought it second hand.

the cd comes with DX10 which i installed.

Plenty of hard drive space left.

You need to upgrade your graphics card if you want to play Stalker Clear Sky.

The game requires a minimum Radeon 9600 (pixel/vertex shader models 2.0) and you only have a Radeon 9250 (DirectX 8.1, shader models 1.4)

XP supports up to DirectX 9.0c

DirectX 10 is for Vista only.

Can't believe I didn't notice the 9250 and 9600. You will need a upgrade, but looking at your whole system I recommend upgrading everything.

Agreed, it moves really fast. Do you plan on upgrading? If you give us a budget we can help list you hardware. However if you do plan on upgrading(getting a new computer) I'd recommend making a new thread in the building section under hardware. You will get more replies there regarding that issue.
