Can't get old Star Trek game to install
Hi,
First I must say i do not know all the technical lingo for computers so ABV etc and just assuming I know what you are talking about will not help me. That being said: I have a old game of mine that is the Star Trek 25th Anniversary CD enhanced Version (cd says works with dos 5.0 or higher/win95) Game is from 1996... and i am trying to install it onto my 4 year old Compaq win97 is what i am running. When I put the Cd in it has an install button to press that only takes about 5 seconds to install and then asks lots of menu items that I have no idea what they mean in setting it up. I have tried selecting different things (not everything) but I can't get the game to work. The cd is in perfect shape Help! |

Re: Can't get old Star Trek game to install
Hi and welcome to TSF,
Can you possibly give us a screenshot of all the menu items? Then we may be able to tell you which ones to click. Thanks.

Re: Can't get old Star Trek game to install
Here is all I could get of the screen. The first is before installation; the second shot is after I installed the game. The only problem I encountered while installing was that an error message briefly popped up after installation that said "error installing shortcut." This was in response to my selecting "yes" when it asked if I wanted to make it part of the start menu.
The problem I have encountered is, after the installation is complete, when I select "Play" as seen on the second screen shot in the attached file, a popup window blinks quickly on and off the screen. It is there and gone too quickly to read the message and does this each time I select "Play." I have tried to get a screen shot of the popup when it is up, but it is up and gone too quickly. It seems that installation is working ok, but I could be wrong. Or, is there something wrong with the specifications of my OS/computer in regards to the game CD that is making it impossible for it to play? Any help appreciated. Thanks. |
