XBOX system link issue
Hi,
Me and a mate are trying to link our xbox's to play V8 Supercars 3. We're using a switch with 2 straight thru cables, it works fine with other game like V8 2, and ghost recon. But for some reason on V8 3, it comes up with "This game session is no longer available" after trying to connect to each others games in the system link lobby. Could it be an issue that we're not using a crossover cable when it's only 2 xbox's for this game? It seems like a weird problem that it just wont work on this game. Any help would be appreciated. |

I'd be willing to put money on it not being the fact you're using the switch and patch cables. To all intents and purposes, the switch/patch combo is identical to a single crossover. As far as I know, there's no way for an Xbox to tell the difference between the two.
It's possible one of the cables isn't working fully up to standard or the switch is a little iffy and V8 3 requires better data comms than the other games. If you have spare patch cables, try changing them over and seeing if that helps. You could also go to your local computer store and get a crossover cable as I'm doubting you have a spare switch/router to test that. If it still doesn't work, the store should allow you to return the cable (but check to see if you can before you buy it). If none of that works, I'm guessing it's either a problem with the game itself, or a hardware/firmware version difference between the two Xboxes causing the problem.
