Problem with PS2

Hello, new here :)

I have a problem with my PS2. I've had it for quite a while (speaking in terms of years here, 2-3 years maybe), and it's always worked well. However, today I went to use it after a while of no usage, and it's acting funny. The PS2 starts as normal, will run games, etc, but I can't click on anything or control it with the controller; it just goes insane. I've tried another controller, different games, different memory cards, etc, and it always does the same thing. Any idea if this can be fixed? I'd rather try to fix it than find a replacement, if possible.

Funny thing...
I have run into the same problem and I dunno what caused it.
I didn't use it for some time like about 6 months and even tho' games are fine. Movies and the main menu don't function properly.
I have had this PS 2 for about 3 years now.

Hi Guys, Welcome to TSF.

Cleaning the lens may help.

where are these lens?

It's in the actual system. You'll need to get special CD's to clean it. They only cost a few dollars and you should be able to pick them up at your local electrical or computer stores.
