Cry Psp Downgrader

Have got a PsP which was brought over from the USA. It was running as the 1.5 version but after playing Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories it had automatically been upgraded to a 2.0 version. I have since tried on numerous occasions to downgrade it but i can't seem to get the downgrade to work. After following the instructions, on entering the photos menu the psp seems to freeze and then switches off. When i then power it back up and go the games menu the 1.5 version is there on the memory card and when i try to launch it i then get a message on screen saying that "there is no need to upgrade as version 2.0 is already installed.
Am i doing something wrong or has playing GTA caused a problem, please can anyone help me?????
